To calculate the correct size Check Chain for your dog, please measure the diameter around your dog's neck just behind the ears with a tape measure & add 5cm to this measurement; choose a chain that is this size or slightly larger (please note that Sprenger check chains measurements include the end rings). With some dogs the width of the head can present difficulties with fitting your collar (e.g. Bull Terriers), if you are concerned that this may be a problem measure the diameter of the largest part of your dog's head (over the base of the ears) and check that your chosen size of collar is larger.
Sprenger Chainware has a well deserved Worldwide reputation for quality, longevity & affordability - you don't need to settle for second best; to be sure you are buying a genuine Sprenger product look for the quality mark "HS - Germany" stamped into each ring & swivel. Sprenger's quality control starts with the right choice of wire, their specifications are very strict, the wire must satisfy their stringent strength & flexibility requirements. The wire is electro-welded into the chains which are constantly checked for breaking strain before acceptance;
Sprenger's Curogan chainware is a very attractive copper colour, it is a copper/tin alloy with a higher proportion of copper, and some other trace additives which significantly increase the strength and give the material a similar breaking strain to steel. Curogan contains absolutely no nickel, and as such is ideal for dogs with light coloured coats (nickel can cause discolouration with light coats) and any dogs that suffer allergic reactions to nickel (nickel can cause skin rashes), for all of these dogs Curagon is the ideal material for chainware.
