Herm Sprenger Dog Check Chain Martingale Chrome Plated
3.0mm chrome plated Martingale round link Chain collar made by Herm. Sprenger in Germany; these chains are available in sizes 40cm, 45cm, 50cm, 55cm & 65cm. Martingale collars are often described as "limited slip", a properly fitted martingale will only close to a limited amount while still giving an audible check; the 3.0mm (wire diameter) Chrome plated steel collar is recommended for medium - large dogs similar in size/strength to the Rhodesian Ridgeback or Golden Retriever.
To calculate the correct size Martingale for your dog, please measure the diameter around your dog's neck just behind the ears with a tape measure & add 5cm to this measurement; choose a chain that is this size or slightly larger, but be careful it is not too large or the dog may be able to "back out" of the collar. With some dogs the width of the head can present difficulties with fitting your collar (e.g. Bull Terriers), if you are concerned that this may be a problem measure the diameter of the largest part of your dog's head (over the base of the ears) and check that your chosen size of collar is larger.

The advantage of this polishing is that the surface becomes much smoother and has a special bright shine, it is only then that it is first nickel then chrome plated; the grip of the nickel layer is tested by "bending” before the chains are finally chromium plated.
